Folks, this place is great! When you’re in Athens, it’s a “must-go” for dinner. Owner/staff/decor are attentive and fabulous! A perfect size menu to please every palate. I had to dine late on several occasions, and they accommodated me/family. I will Always dine here-unless you smart people heeding this review now block me. A chance I’ll take for the friendly welcome I’ve always received here. Get a reservation asap! Mark & Joanie in NY.

This was a great discovery. We were searching for Italian restaurants in downtown Athens, but only found either pizza/calzone joints, or two other locations a little outside our zone. While it was difficult to discover Osteria Athena through normal searches, we were pleasantly surprised by our experience. First off, there was a sign at the doorway for half-prices glasses of wine (wisely it had a 3 glass per person limit considering our dinner companions). The house Chianti was not the best, but was certainly a value for half-price. Second, the Caprese tomato salad appetizer and Classic Bruschetta were generous size and sharable. Third, the entrees were nicely sized, too. The Bolognese pasta was excellent. Last, the Tiramisu dessert was very good and the cheesecake was surprisingly good and a group favorite. I cant wait to return to Athens just to come back to Osteria Athena.

I recently visited Osteria Athena with a group of 9. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. Our biggest issue was the wait time — we waited nearly 2 hours for our food. Understandably, since the restaurant was short-staffed, but at such a price high price point, our expectations of the food grew as the wait got longer. When the food finally arrived, it didn’t justify the wait. The portions were small and not worth the high prices, and the quality was underwhelming. The additional chicken that we ordered costed a whopping $12 for a grilled chicken breast that was dry and tasted burnt. The pasta was incredibly under-seasoned. We brought up our concerns, and while staff tried to respond, the only compensation offered was a singular slice of cheesecake for a table of 9 people, which felt insufficient and dismissive given the situation. Overall, despite the good service from our servers, the long wait, overpriced food, and poor compensation left a bad impression. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially for larger groups.

My mom and I came to Athens, Ga for the Alabama vs. Georgia game and we had to eat here. The owner of Osteria Athena, was so welcoming and kind to us even though we’re Bama fans! We ordered the Bruschetta al funghi, a caesare salad, Pollo al Marsala, and the Pollo Alla francese. The bruschetta is too die for…the best I’ve ever had. Both of the chicken dishes were flavorful and the chicken was oh so tender…PERFECTION🤌🏼 Osteria Athena has an amazing wine selection and the espresso martini’s 10/10. We will definitely be back. Please, please, please put an Osteria Athena in T-town!!!! Oh and one more thing ROLLLLL TIDE ROLLLLL!!!!!

The best Italian food in Athens I’ve had, no question. The ambiance is awesome, very true to other ‘fine-dining’ type places in Athens, definitely a step up from your average burger joint but not so fancy it makes you feel underdressed in a polo and shorts. Our server, Noah, was great, and who I’m assuming was the owner was also there, checking in a few times throughout the meal to see how everything was. We started with the caprese salad, which was delicious, not too much pizzazz, just good mozz, fresh tomatoes and basil. For our entrees, I had the crab and shrimp pasta, and my partner had the caserecce alla campagna (ribbon pasta with italian sausage). It was excellent! Pasta was great, the shrimp was nice and plump, and the crab really shined through the whole dish. Same with my partners, great flavors, good portions, everything you could ask for. And the whole damn meal was cooked up by one guy! We were blown away. The tiramisu was just the icing on top, super delicious and creamy. Safe to say we’ll be back, and I’ll be recommending this til my face turns blue.
